Arkaba’s true luxury comes in sharing 60,000 acres of private wildlife conservancy with just ten guests, taking the definition of exclusivity to a new level in Australia. Nestled amongst the ancient landscape of the Ikara-Flinders Ranges, Arkaba is a genuine blend of conservation and tourism, where the proceeds from guest experiences are passionately channeled back into conservation – the results are very visible in extraordinary populations of kangaroos, birdlife, reptiles and other species on the property. Recognised as one of the most beautiful outback properties in Australia, Arkaba’s five room 1850s homestead provides you with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the story of the bush - its ancient geology, diverse wildlife and the chance to get ‘hands on’ with the conservation programs on the property.

Your Wild Bush Luxury experience includes Homestead Guestroom accommodation, all meals and beverages and twice daily wilderness safaris with our team of expert field guides. Your afternoon experience is usually capped off with a sundowner drink on top of the ranges with the scale and grandeur of outback Australia laid out for miles around.
A team of expert field guides live and breathe the bush and through a mix of walks, open top safari drives and sheer passion, they will open up the secrets of Arkaba and the Ikara-Flinders Ranges. For a different perspective on the region, join a local Adnamatna Elder for a walk and a chance to listen to her stories of the land and her people. For the more active, Arkaba offers some of the best bushwalking in the country; for the soft adventurers, an open top safari drive reveals vistas and the stories of the property in a different way, usually capped off with a sundowner drink on top of the ranges with the scale and grandeur of outback Australia laid out for miles around.

Our all inclusive rate offers the complete Wild Bush Luxury experience and full access across the property. The focus at Arkaba is on the wildlife and wilderness and this is supported by some key luxuries – great food, premium wines and supremely comfortable bedrooms.

Book

With Arkaba and our 60,000 acres of private wildlife conservancy in the Ikara-Flinders Ranges as your base, take off on an outback air safari over Wilpena Pound and across the salt pans of Lake Torrens and head into the interior to see Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre. When it does fill it becomes Australia’s largest lake, better known as an ‘inland sea’ flourishing with bird and wildlife.

Your air safari will take you over Wilpena Pound and the ancient ramparts of the Flinders Ranges including Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges. Passing over Parachilna Gorge tracking north takes you over the open-cut coal fields at Leigh Creek, the outback township of Marree and then the wonder that is Lake Eyre. Breathtaking views and an array of spectacular colours will astound as we track west across the lake towards one of Australia’s smallest townships, William Creek. The iconic William Creek Hotel is the venue for lunch along with the opportunity for a short stroll around the town. Departing south takes you over the Painted Desert, Strangeway Mound Springs, Andamooka opal fields and Lake Torrens. Your experienced pilot will provide commentary throughout and can answer any questions you have along the way.

4 Night Outback Helicopter Safari

4 Night Outback Helicopter Safari

Book

Arkaba shares a common border with the dramatic natural amphitheatre of Wilpena Pound, the jewel in the crown of the Ikara-Flinders Ranges. The pound has been formed by some of the oldest rocks in the world and holds great significance for the local indigenous Australian people, the Adnyamathanha people.

There is no better way to explore this ancient landscape than a jaw-dropping helicopter safari. Hugging Wilpena Pound and our Elder mountain Range and then swooping down into Brachina and Edeowie Gorges is quite frankly just exciting.

Your helicopter safari starts on the lawn right by the Arkaba Homestead and will take you over Wilpena Pound and the ancient ramparts of the Flinders Ranges. Passing over Rawnsley Bluff, down the spine of the Pound, weaving amongst the cliffs of the incredible Heysen Range and low level through Brachina Gorge. Break left onto the flats with Lake Torrens in the distance before touching down at the Prairie Hotel in Parachilna for a gourmet platter of ‘feral food’ (or something else that takes your fancy). We’re back in the helicopter for round two tracking south along the old railway and through Edeowie Gorge, around St Mary’s Peak and west along Arkaba’s spectacular Elder Range. You’ll admire Arkaba’s walking trails and spot wildlife from the air before landing at the Arkaba Homestead in time for a sundowner drink on top of the ranges.

Includes:

  • Daily guided wilderness safaris
  • 4-nights accommodation at Arkaba Homestead
  • All chef-prepared meals
  • All beverages
  • Three-hour helicopter experience over the ancient Ikara-Flinders Ranges with lunch at the famous Prairie Hotel, one of Australia’s finest outback pubs.

Price:
$4,565 per person twin-share, minimum two people.

NB: Helicopter Safaris are subject to availability and operate between March and October ONLY
